Just a short drive from the busy Marrakech is the stunning Atlas Mountains. The journey from Morocco over the mountains to the city of Quarzazate offers a different perspective from the spice markets and city camel rides. There are a few cafes with fireplaces flared serving coffees and teas. Quarzazate, often called “the door to the desert”, based on its proximity to the open desert, is also home to film studios where Lawrence of Arabia and Jewel of Nile were made.
